Hi, I told you guys in my last post that I would tell you about Camp Manitou? Well here it is. Alright, first of all, it took us at best, 20 mins to drive there. Once we did, it was like 10 something.

Term 3 Reflection... I'm gonna cry
LOOK IT'S THE END!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIIIIFE!!!!!!! Just kidding. It's the end of the year, well school year that is. Wow. I want to just look back to the beginning of the year and see how much I've grown. LOL I can actually because the other terms are here as well. Enough talk, lets get to the biz. Alright, let's get to Math first. I guess we did some area and perimeter of squares, rectangles, triangles, cylinders, cubes and rectangular prisms. I will mention that we also did the Pythagorean Theorem. (Ya know, A2+B2=C2?) that stuff was pretty easy lol. I think I did very well in terms of that, I mean, getting a couple of tests nearly perfect is enough proof, right? Well, I actually got a couple of tests like under 90%, which Mr. H says is enough to lower grades. We had a huge test on "Shape and Space" I don't really remember my mark on the test, I believe I got it perfect. It was a challenging test to be honest, I mean, it took me almost an hour to complete! I'm just happy I got it right. Currently we are doing Algebra. It actually isn't that bad as you might think. After a couple of classes, I understood how to use Alge-Tiles and solve 1 and 2 step equations. I think that's what we did this term on Math, if I missed anything, comment, I be fixin' after. Alright, Science. Ah, this term was a breeze with projects. Well before I get to the projects itself, lemme start with a BOOM! Literally. What I mean by BOOM is that we studied Earthquakes, Volcanoes (They go BOOM right?), and Mountains. We studied what the Richter scale is and the different waves coming out of an earthquake. For example, the Surface Waves are the slowest waves, they are the ones that do the most damage on land. We studied volcanoes too, we figured out that there is 3 main types of volcanoes, cinder- cone, shield and composite/stratovolcanoes. Okay, back to earthquakes, right. Um we found out that the tectonic plates move in 3 ways, it's actually kinda hard to explain, I'll try my best to do it and I hope y'all understand it. The 1st way is that the plates compress and eventually one of them will fold and go under one plate. (It's called Subduction.) The next one is when one of the plates rip apart and magma comes out. (I don't know the scientific name for it sorry.) The last movement is when the plates grind up against each other, causing friction and an earthquake. XD now after all of that, we started to do more hands-on projects, like building towers and windmills, it was hard to do both and I lost both times. To be honest, my designs looked kinda bad, but hey, I got pretty good marks for the design. Moving on..... Remember ELA? Yeah, if you read my previous term reflection, you'll see that we started to read a book called the Knife of Never Letting Go, you see, right after we finished the book, we had like a test on it. I don't remember my mark at all, because it was such a long time ago when we had the test. Right, this term, we started Book Two of the series, called The Ask and The Answer. I don't want to give any spoilers at all okay? Sorry if I'm being so straightforward, but I'm saying it straight to y'all who didn't read the book, just go read. But I'm nice, so I'll tell you what The Ask and The Answer is. The Ask is a group composing of Mayor Prentiss and his son, The Answer is the opposite group, composing of a woman called Mistress Coyle and some women. We finished the book earlier this month, and it was very surprising at the end. Currently we are doing our final project, some people decided to do a little skit, performing the scenes they choose. I'm doing a movie poster, because I don't really feel like acting. Social Studies time! YAY! I'm being sarcastic here, but actually, this term was fun. Remember I told you what happened last time in Social Studies? Well we did Africa and after that, Mr. H told us that we would partner up and make our own island with actual coordinates in the oceans. My partner was Justine, we did Chocolate Island. It was fun, but drawing the actual island itself was challenging, because I had to like, perfectly line it up with the miniature version of it. We had to think of culture and what ey eat and what is their entertainment and all that. We had to present to the class, lol we weren't ready to present, so we just had to improvise while we were presenting. Now, French. This term was easy breezy. All we did was have a test on verbs. I don't remember the verbs exactly, go and look at someone else's. Currently we are working on French Cafe's. My café is The Ballerz Bistro. (LOL Weird title.) So, earlier this term, some people would come every Thursday and we would talk about emotions and other personal things. They were called the Youth Peace-Building Group. It was really fun being with them, and I was surprised at some of the things I found out about some people. At the very end, we ate pizza with them. We went on a couple of field trips and we first went to Vertical Adventures. It's basically a rock climbing place. Man, it was challenging because I climbed a wall and I was near the top and I thought I couldn't reach it, but I did. Last Friday, June 14, we went to Camp Manitou, you'll find out about that in another post. In other subjects, Gym. Gym, all we did was finish off basketball, (Divisionals, we WON A GAME BY LIKE 10 POINTS, WOOOOOO!!!!!) I coached all the teams and with the 2-3 Zone, most the teams won their games. We then had track. I made it to the 100, 200, and 400M, but I found out at the track meet that there was no 400M. I went to the 100M and I was last because the others were so fast. In Band, we obviously have been learning songs. One of them is called "Mythos", it's a quick, energetic song. I have a solo, which is only 2 measures lol. I guess this is it for the year, but in terms of behaviour, I kinda blurted out stuff, like in class, but other than that, I think I did well. *Sigh* I'm finished the year, I'm done, all I want to do is play basketball. LOL I'm going to miss everyone that I know that is still here. But I look forward to high-school. I'm not really scared of high-school though, as most people think. I had a great year, I'm going to miss Mr. Harding especially, because he taught me so many things, I can't really name them all. I'll come back to Elwick next year to visit and say thanks. So farewell Elwick!

Anti-Bullying Video/Commercials/etc.
And Here.
I chose the first one because it has facts on what actually happens, like bullying happens in class every 25 minutes.
The second one I chose because it just shows cyber bullying. The ending may be cheesy, but it makes sense, pulling the plug on cyber bullying, is easier than pulling the plug on someone else's life.
Hold up, I have one more.
I chose this video because I like basketball, and for an NBA player to come out as gay, that is amazing. He's actually the first athlete, of any major American sport, to admit that he is gay. His name is Jason Collins and he currently plays for the Washington Wizards.

Review on The Knife of Never Letting Go
Wow. The book is prolly one of the best books out there. Usually I don't read much, but when we started the book, I got into it. It has a lot of action, and the author describes the characters beautifully well. The story seemed pretty boring at first, then it got really amazing near the end, I actually wanted more after the end! I was really surprised when I heard the audiobook because Todd, the main character has sort of like a southern accent, I thought he had more of a normal English accent, but he didn't. I noticed some spelling mistakes, but they were on purpose 'cuz it seems like it's the language they speak there. Ex: You're- Yer in the book. The book takes place on "New World". Which means that they moved from Earth onto another planet, hence them saying "Old World" referring to our homeworld. They censored the bad words well, but they let loose only once. The author introduces a girl in the beginning, having her to come from ships above and onto a world where supposedly there is no women. The girl's name is Viola and she grows a liking for Todd, near the end of the book, I think she shows some affection towards him and I think Todd does too, but they don't show it. She is more intelligently-developed than Todd is and thus able to read Todd's ma's journal. I almost forgot, most of the book Todd and Viola are running away from Todd's hometown of Prentisstown, cuz they are being chased by Aaron, the towns preacher. They are trying to get to Haven, the biggest town on New World and they make it, but there is someone already there...... Sorry I can't tell you more, read the next book to find out. 5/5 stars is my rating. What a book!

Term 2 Reflection and Gooooaaaals!
I guess I'll start with English Language Arts, or ELA for short.
We start with what I did with my Big Little Book. To be honest it was easy, but I guess it was kinda difficult doing the summary. The illustrations was easy and everything else I just breezed through it. I think I lost my Big Little Book, but I think it's in the class anywhere. I know the class will see this, so help me out? Does anyone know where it is?
Anyways, we had one more final exam for Touching Spirit Bear. I think I almost got it perfect, but the sentences was kinda weird, I mean awkward actually.
The class made a bucket list and it was up to 100 items. Honestly, it was easy but after Number 50, it got kinda hard because of the things I had to think about. (Keep in mind that it was hard thinking of another 50 things!) I managed to finish it. you can actually see it here on my blog if you look hard enough. xD
When we came back from break, we started a new unit called Lit Circles. We just read books and then we do various jobs and it's supposed to help us to get more interested in reading. It's really easy and I like my group. Currently are reading a book called "Powerless" and it's about a kid who just moved from Philadelphia to a new town called Noble Green and he finds out that some of the kids have superpowers and he's trying to find out where he fits in the puzzle. I just wish sometimes that Darion would do his jobs a bit better, with more quality and that he can actually READ 2-3 sentences because he likes to not really listen to when the other guys are reading. By the way, my other group members are: Chris, Gregory and Ram. Reading Buddies is still pretty easy and my buddy is really quiet. Currently I'm working on a Survivor Story, it's not finished yet. Check back here and click the link to see it. Not spilling any details or anything. I think my editing skills are more or less the same as last term, but I think I got better at identifying where figurative language fits in the passage. I think I'm a good discussion starter and it seems to go far into what I start.
Now I'll move on to Social Studies, it's not as long as ELA so don't be worried if this takes up more space than ELA did.
Since I told you we started the Amazing Race earlier in Term One, we finished the unit and the ending was really surprising. The two gay men, Josh and Brent ended up winning DESPITE not having a win in any leg until the final one. We had one more final project. We didn't do any sheets though. We had to find a group of kids from the two classes, which were Mr. Harding's and Ms. White's classes. Now obviously, I had to go with my friend Jomar and we partnered with Pam and Alexis. Most of the other teams didn't think ours was fair because we had everything, the total package. We had intelligence, speed, problem-solving and athleticism. We ended up having a penalty because Jomar tried the food test and he thought a bean was a Blueberry! (A BLUEBERRY, REALLY?!?!) Buut it was him who found out what the final place ended up to be. The clue says, if I remember right, "The pitstop is a room that no longer exists..." And immediately Jomar said "COMPUTER LAB!!!" And we all dashed towards it. We ended up winning.
Currently we are doing a unit on Africa and we studied the climate, the people, the geographical features and the industries of Africa. We finished all the worksheets and what-not, so we made African masks. We went on the Interweb and looked up African masks and I partnered up with Terence. I found a lion mask, and I got info on animal masks and we made the actual masks out of a paper plate and we cut the top and sides off to make the outline of the face. Then I just paper mached it together. Then as a final touch, Terence made the ears and the big snout of the lion.
Finally on to something easier, FRENCH! We did the Twelve Days of Christmas and it was fun, thinking of things, basically anything we want and convert them into French and then illustrate it. We also did ER Verbs and it's CONFUSING!! AAARRRGGGHHH!!
Oh goodness me oh my, here comes the big long subject of MATH. Earlier in the term, we did a unit on rounding out whole numbers. It was easy. We then did integers, order of operations, PEMDAS, we also did mental math, where Mr. Harding puts on 5 questions then we solve them. We are apparently doing a HUGE unit on fractions, I mean we already had TWO TESTS on fractions and we still have some more to do. We did adding fractions, adding improper fractions and adding mixed numbers. Did I mention that we also did subracting of them too? (I just did brah.) Oh yeah, I forgot that we also compared them too, finding the missing term. Now we are doing fractions still and we are converting them to percents. We also did the methods of multiplying like the lattice method, the array method and the traditional method, They were so easy and the lattice method that I didn't understand last year was really easy now. But my favorite method that still stands is the traditional.
Enough of Math now, let's move on to Science.
We started the Second Term with Mr. Vaarmeyer and everyone different things, like some people did... Well I forgot sorry. Well all I remember is what I did. Succession with Justine. We told the class that Succession is "The process which by new species gradually replace old species over time." and the seemed to understand that, I think. When the New Year came, we didn't switch with Mr. Vaarmeyer's class anymore. So Mr. Harding just taught us instead. We learned about the Earth's Crust and how some rocks are not all Volcanic. About rocks, we learned about them too. There are 3 types of rock, Igneous, (Comes out of Volcanoes) Sedimentary, (All sand and other sediments, hence the name "Sedimentary") and Metamorphic. (Two types of rock being crushed by time and pressure and turns into new rock.) It's fun and I hear there is a test for them.
Science was short, now on to the "Other Areas".
Since I'm not in Exploratory, I'm in Band. In band we are learning "Mythos" and "Tempest". I actually play 2 instruments. I play the Alto and Tenor Saxophone. In Gym class, or better, Physical Education. We played basketball and It was obviously fun, because I LOVE basketball. We had a good season, racking up ONE win. YAY! I think I averaged like 12 points per game I guess. We also played "Speedball". It's a mixture of soccer and basketball. Overall, this term has been great and I look forward to Term 3, my last term in Elwick.
I forgot we need to make 3 goals, so here they come!
1) I think my first goal would be to do better in French. It's kinda obvious on how I will complete this. I gotta learn the pronounciation of certain French words and to be more into the lesson.
2) Number Two? Well I can be quieter. I'll be quiet in class, simple and plain.
3) The last one I think is to end the year, and Elwick with a bang! I will try harder in everything and I want to finish Elwick knowing I actually succeeded finishing a school.
That's it for now, see y'all again next term, and the end of the year.

Idle No More Movement.
Q: Have you ever heard of the Idle No Movement?
A: Actually, yes I have. Over the news though.
Q: What is the idle No More Movement? Be specific?
A: They want the government to reassure their Treaty Rights and sinve their not getting it fast enough, they are not going to 'Idle No More'.
Q: Why do you think they are protesting?
A: I think they are protesting because they are tired of the Government not giving them enough attention on their treaties, and they won't stop prostesting.
Q: What is your opinion on the Idle No More Movement?
A: Well, I think the movement is changing the world, and I hope the Government will listen and the Aboriginals. They deserve every right to protest by the way the Government is treating them.

My Talent Inventory...
Haai everyone... This my talent inventory... I dunno what is that supposed to mean, but here goes...
1. People tell me I am best at... Usually people say I'm good at basketball and I'm nice to talk to on Facebook.
2. I think I excel at... Basketball, Math, Social Studies and Science.
3. My best leadership accomplishment is...When I was the leader of Terra.
4. I'd like to learn much more about... Actually this is hard to answer... I guess I'd like to learn more about basketball. I'm a good player, but I need to work on Defence a bit more so I can be a stopper at Defence.
5. Someday I would like to lead... A basketball team, I hope when I do, I hope we make it to the Finals.
6. In this class it would be fun to... have Gregory, Ram, Chris, Joyce and me go against the class in basketball.
7. If I taught this class, I would... Teach with more of a math-based morale, I would still teach everything still, just with more of Math.
8. I like to be recognized for... That weird kid who's good at school. And Basketball. ;)
9. I learn and lead best when... Under Pressure. For example, last Wednesday, when we were down by 6 points, I hit a three and a clutch steal with 25 seconds left in the game.
10. Leading and learning challenges me when... It gets too hard. Like when people try and tell me how to do something, but it's hard enough to remember all the steps.
